Nutcap is a blog for fans of the Richmond Flying Squirrels, the Eastern League baseball team in Richmond, Virginia. Beginning their inaugural season in Richmond in April of 2010, the team was most recently the Connecticut Defenders before their move.
The Team
The Flying Squirrels name was picked by readers of the Richmond Times-Dispatch in a poll, presumably because most of the other candidate names were either somehow offensive or bizarrely dada.
The team is the AA affiliate of the San Francisco Giants, and plays at The Diamond, located on Boulevard in Richmond.
